Background:
He is a descandant of the exorcist „Abe no Senmei“. It means he is a strong exorcist who can control strong shikihamis (his personal shikigami is a vengful ghost of an Onmyouji). He is interested in Kureha, because of her bloodline she is able to hold a mysterious sword which can defeat every sort of Yokais. That's why he becomes Kureha's main-antagonist with the aim that the girl will fall in love with him - then he would sacrifice her to get a new shikigami.

Personality:
Yosai is a cold-hearted, but intelligent and talented exorcist. Although he wants to protect the humans, he will not hesitate to get rid of anyone who gets in his way. He hates Yokais und destroys weak Yokais too, who are not harmful for humans. In companionship he is very calm and relaxed, but he can be very sarcastic (because he is very narcisstistic and thinks he is better as others). He endeavors for Kureha's love (and the arranged marriage between them), although he tries to get her love, he loses his patience of her stubborn character or he starts to ignore her completely. But he can also be very pushy and takes what he wants to take – for example he would try to kiss her without her permission.
